The European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) is the internationally recognized qualification which enables people to demonstrate their competence in computer skills.

European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) is also known as International Computer Driving Licence (ICDL) outside Europe.

The ECDL program enables participants to enhance their computing skills in common computer applications and gain a recognised IT qualification at the same time. The ECDL can help you become more efficient and confident in your current job, develop your IT skills, and enhance your career prospects.

What does the ECDL cover?

The ECDL syllabus consists of seven modules. The seven modules are:

• Module 1 - Basic Concepts of IT
• Module 2 - Using the Computer and Managing Files
• Module 3 - Word Processing
• Module 4 - Spreadsheets
• Module 5 - Databases
• Module 6 - Presentations
• Module 7 - Electronic Communication

Each module is tested separately and each test generally lasts 45 minutes. The seven tests can be attempted in any order and at any time. After passing tests candidate gets:

• ECDL START certificate after passing any 4 modules
• ECDL STANDARD certificate after passing all 7 modules
