Student's experiences
The month of May in New Delhi, and the whole of India, it is already clear how the hot, too hot and long of an Indian summer is going to be. I have finished the International School in New Delhi, and am trying to write down and arrange the numerous experiences I have had in this vast and exotic country. This reminds me of what is yet to come, how and where to continue my studies, what university to select. Eventually it will all depend on how long my father will remain in his post in Delhi, will I enroll at some college in India, or will I return to Belgrade, because anywhere else is just too high of an expense. I am up to date with the latest news on the internet about Serbia. I see an ad about the enrollment of students to the English School of Business, which first brings to mind that these are studies in the English language. This particularly inspires me, I consult with my parents and we make a decision that this would represent the continuum of my international studies, an excellent opportunity for further improving my English and finally a solid academic background for entering the modern world of business, marketing and economics. I finished ESB (marketing major) fairly quickly, passing all exams on time, learning and sharing new experiences, expanding my business English vocabulary by way of interesting lectures, and I got a job at the Societe Generale bank in Belgrade, as a clerk, later promoted to the position of Account Officer for retail clients. The knowledge and experiences I have gained during my studies helped me enormously, in the professional sense, and also on the road to obtaining strength and confidence in everything I do at work. Through conversation with my colleagues, almost all of them around my age, the topic of studies always comes up and interests about what kind of diplomas others have obtained. Personally, I think that this is a result of them being indecisive in their options of Universities and colleges from which to choose from because of the lack of institutions that will enable a modern and simple system of education, after which they will be more equipped to face the reality of the today’s rapidly changing business environment. This is precisely why I chose to study ESB and every time I mention my choice of studies I find my self in the centre of attention and around me so many interested faces. However, there remained my biggest whish to complete my studies with the Master of Business Administration Diploma, which the ESB also offers, and which I am at the moment finishing besides the fact that I still work in a bank. I have to admit working all the long and studying parallel to that is not at all simple, but the motives I have started with a couple of years ago and the amazing experiences I have gained with future expectations, give me the needed stimulus to finish the MBA. From time to time I think about the hot summer day in Delhi when I stumbled across the ESB ad on the internet. This was the day when I made a choice about my future professional path, and on which, even today as I am writing this, I walk happily, satisfied with myself. |
